Wiring Cat5e cable together
Can Cat5e cable be bundled together with another Cat5e and/or TV cable. I want to run a line to two rooms, but want to use the same chase. So I will have two Cat5e cables running together. One line will termitate at one room, and the other line will continue on and go and termitate in the next room. Also can you bundle it with TV coaxial cable or does it have to be a dedicated chase?
Thanks guys!!! All my electrical wiring is concentrated on one wall, and that is not where I plan on running any cat5e or coax wire, so I think I'll be safe. I actually saw on the net a company that supplies multi bundled cabling. Didn't know it existed. I've never connected cat5e cable to the rj45 connectors before. Is there some website were I can find out which wires go in which pins?
It is actually quite easy to do. The manufacturer of these wall jacks (female end of the connector) colour codes where each wire goes in the jack, for either the 568A standard or the 568B crossover. You just lay them over the tiny metal teeth, like using dental floss, and then just clamp down on the clip to snap shut. Apparently, you don't even have to strip the wires. the snap on lid slices just enough of the plastic insulation to expose enough wire to maintain contact with the metal pins in the jack.
