Tub Faucet

So, I'm in the early stages of my mini bathroom remodel and I have already hit a snag. I can't seem to be able to remove the tub faucet. I've tried everything including using a plumbers wrench. Since I'm not going to re-use the faucet, I don't care how I get it off. It just won't twist. Being in an older house, I assume that it must have rusted to the pipe. Any suggestions. Would heat help, or do I need to just cut it off? Thanks, Eric. . .

Had the same problem - Try sticking the largest wrench into the spigot opening - handle first - then use it as leverage to turn it - that ought to work. It will probably damage the spigot, but you're replacing it anyway. If this doesn't work, then I'll step back and let the next person give you a better idea. Liz

I am frustrated.. the faucet handle will not come off after removing the screw. we have rocked back and forth sprayed silicone lubricant in and around handle we have used "CLR" to loosen deposits to no avail It twists and turns but doesn't come off. Hubby wants me to call a plumber. Any suggestions.
