The Hurrricain is about to pounce on me.
Hello everyone, I will be shutting down my computer sometime later the evening due to the approaching storm. I know that some of you do not remember me from correspondence we may have had before. However, I don't have time to send emails only to select people. I ask all of those folks to forgive me for mailing this email. I'm busy boarding up, tying down, and moving pieces of lawn furniture so that I will not lose that much of my possessions. Also, flying objects can be dangerous to other people and my family. All county roads are being shut down at 6 p.m. this evening for besides the high velocity of the winds, estimated to be around 70 to 50 miles per hour, we will be receiving approximately 10 to 15 inches of rain during the next three days. This will be causing flooding, washed out roads, downed power lines and poles. In other words some massive damage and extended power outages. When Hurricane Opal hit us 10 years ago we were without power for a week. Ivan seems to much worse and there is no telling what will happen. Due to that fact I will not be able contact anyone for an extended period of time. Lastly, I ask all of you to pray for us down here is southern Alabama. We have old, rough, unfinished, painted (but wearing off) hardwood in our kitchen underneath the ratty old carpet; that we want to put vinyl flooring over. We aren't sure what to do to smooth it out first, if there is any type of putty or sealant or something out there that would work, but that the adhesive for the vinyl would adhere to. Any suggestions? I really don't want to refinish the wood, and I don't know if it can be.I think it's the original floor from when the house was built in 1910 or earlier.no one is sure. Or else are we better off pulling the wood up and putting plywood down instead? Thanks for any help you can give Kati In Iowa.
Wouldn't putting OSB raise the floor up and be uneven with the adjoining rooms? Kati
