Switch Wiring
Hi Everyone, This is my first post to this newsgroup. I was wondering if anyone knew if there is some type of insulation that can be installed without completely tearing out the drywall in my home. We bought a new house and and the garages came competely finished w drywall, but the walls are not insulated. It gets pretty hot here in california in the summer and I would like to be able to work out in the garage without cooking. I thought i heard about something called bat or blown insulation that can be blown into the walls? has anyone heard of this? have experience witih this? cost of something like this? TIA - hope this isn't a stupid question! paul
Last I knew, blown in insulation was still available and legal. It was made of cellulose I think. The whole thing is done by the provider of the material. No such thing as DIY for this one. No leaks are allowed in any of the cavities to be filled since insulation will blow OUT from any such leaks (i.e. loose outlet cover plates). There was a reputation the the cellulose settled over time thereby reducing the insulating properties in the space where it settled from, but it may not have even been true. The process involves the installer drilling an access hole for entry of the feed hose. Be prepared to repair this access point. They may not include this as part of the project. Good luck.
