Stupid Insulation Question

Do I put the insulation over the top of the electrical wires, or stuff it behind it? See, I told you it was a stupid question. 8-) Rick

Neither. Slit the insulation, or just cut the batt in half, and envelop the wire in it. -- --jmowreader

Totally agree. Seen this done by quality builders. It is the only way to not compress the insulation.

And while we're on the subject of insulating walls, let me post some totally wanton spam: Nail Stoppers Are Good. Everyone should use nail stoppers. A nail stopper is a steel plate with four short spikes coming out the bottom of it. You pound these onto both nailing faces of every stud over your wiring and plumbing passthroughs, and when you come back with your drywall, sheathing and siding, you will not wind up putting a nail or a screw into your electrical and plumbing systems. If you're working with Simpson Strong-Ties, the numbers are NS-1 and NS-2. NS-2 is longer. --jmowreader
