Free CAD System

I just download Cadvance, but not sure if it will take .cad files. I checked out their website and didn't see anything about .cad files, so don't know. I put a request on their forum for an answer. Do you know? I have lots of CAD files, and may be locked into my CAD program. It takes a week or so to get the registration number so I can use the downloaded Cadvance, so I can't figure it out that way now. Bob

I forget what is on this system) No memory bogging problems OS has been kept upgraded She is loaded for bear! I do a lot of graphics and image manipulation. Never had a problem with anything before, especially not a rendering program, that is why I am so FRUSTRATED with the Cadvance _not_ working * grumbling again * Thanks Dale for stretching mental muscles to help me troubleshoot it . I had the same problem when I installed it. I read their file and got this from it.I did what it said and it works fine now. If you select the ODBC database option during Setup and do not have the appropriate ODBC driver files installed, CADVANCE will not run. Either install the appropriate files, re-run Setup and select the direct dBASE-compatible option, or manually replace the ODBC DLL as explained under Utility/Attributes/Setup in the User Guide. I think the install I did of the ODBC and MDAC files from MS last night must have worked . It is now working! Thanks, Tami! Kathie PS...I couldn't even get INTO the user guide within the program! But all is well now Subject: Re: [DoIt_Yourself] Free CAD System I had the same problem when I installed it. I read their file and got this from it.I did what it said and it works fine now. Lol Thanks for the A+ effort though, Mark! Just FYI, I think the problem may have been two fold? First of all I needed updated DLL..so I downloaded and installed Version 7 * I believe it was * of the MDAC pkgs that contain the correct DLLs. Then I took the program off my D drive and put it onto the C with the OS. That was my last ditch effort to get the program working...and it worked..eventually. :) Kathie Subject: [DoIt_Yourself] Re: Free CAD System Okay, I finally got through all of the messages and realize that the problem was already solved. XP is TERRIFIC as far as I am concerned. I am not experiencing the problems I had running programs under W98, and I have been able to get programs to WORK on here that never work on my W98 set up. I never used ME ...I stick with things that have been around and tried and true. We build our own systems so we never had need of ME. Kathie ----- Subject: Re: [DoIt_Yourself] Free CAD System Dale, I have been reading all the posts about the Cad system. I did look at the site when it was first mentioned but I recall I did not see Windows ME listed in OS. I know that ME is just a updated version of Win 98 but I was afraid to download and try the program; I have some problems with my computer and don't want to try something that may make it worse. Guess it will soon be time for a new computer. How does everyone who has it like XP? Pat in Phoenix
